Relatives took part in the protest, which also demanded fairer, more reliable treatment for every patient, an end to discrimination and more dutiful staff. They called on the Ministry of Health to act.

The four-year-old boy, Htoo Myat Aung, was admitted on April 29 after receiving burns from boiling rice water.

Win Khine, uncle of the victim, said the protest did not aim to get compensation for the child's death but to avoid a repeat of the incident and to denounce irresponsible staff.
